Nervous System Flashcards
What is the structure of the nervous system?
And what is the 4 parts of brain
+ spinal chord
The central nervous system which includes the brain and spinal cord.
The BRAIN is involved in conscious awareness and is involved in all psychological processes
4 parts of the brain- occipital lobe-which processes visual information
Temporal lobe which processes auditory info
Parietal lobe which intergrates information from your sense and is important for spacial navigation
Frontal lobe- is associated with higher order functions such as planning, logic and reasoning
+ brain stem
Spinal chord is the involuntary actions
Peripheral nervous system
What is the somatic nervous system
Autonomic nervous system
Maintains communication with the outside world- made up of sensory receptors and motor pathways
Autonomic nervous system is involved with homeostasis
Only contains motor pathways
Sympathetic- involved in flight or flight as impulses travels through autonomic nervous system and to organs, such as hr increasing and digestion decrease.
Parasympathetic- returns us back to our resting state- reducing blood pressure
