Sensors Flashcards
Control System
A control system is a set of components forming a system configuration that will provide the desired system response.
Closed-Loop Control System
Is a control system which uses the concept of an open loop system as its forward path but has one or more feedback loops (hence its name) or paths between its output and its input. The reference to “feedback”, simply means that some portion of the output is returned “back” to the input to form part of the systems excitation.
Measurand
A physical quantity that is measured by a system.
Sensor
A Sensor is a device that detects a change in a physical stimulus and turns it into a signal which can be measured. Converts physical energy/quantity into a signal that can be read, processed, transmitted.
Actuator
An actuator is a mechanism by which a control system acts upon an environment. Therefore it converts the electronic signal at its inputs into physical energy.
