What are the critiques of semiotics?

A
  • Fulfills good interpretive theory: qualitative, clarifies, aesthetic appeal, understanding of consumer, wanted to change the world
  • Lacks in community of agreement; not always ideological, doesn’t account for resistance to dominant ideology
