Seminar Content Revision Flashcards
Define Lactate threshold?
The first point where lactate levels first start to rise above baseline
Define lactate turnpoint?
The second break point - sudden and sustained increase in blood lactate
How do we define training zones?
Easy training - anything below lactate threshold
Steady training - between Lactate threshold and lactate turnpoint
Tempo training - One stage after lactate turnpoint
Interval training - Above tempo training, increased HR, Blood lactate and running speed.
What is Gross Efficiency (GE)?
GE is a measure of effective work. It’s the amount of work completed relative to the amount of energy expended for each stage of the sub-maximal test.
GE (%) = (work output / energy expended) x 100
=(Watts x 0.01433) / (kcal.LO2 x VO2 l.min-1) x 100
How is RER calculated?
RER = VCO2 / VO2
How is VCO2 (l/min) calculated?
VCO2 (l/min) = RER x VO2
How is %HRmax calculated?
%HRmax = (HR/Age predicted HRmax) x 100
How is VO2 (l/min) calculated?
VO2 (l/min) = (VO2(ml/kg/min) xBM /1000
How do we calculate training load?
S-RPE x activity time (mins)
How do we make a value relative?
Divide by time/duration.
How do you calculate the distance required to set up MAS Tabata drill?
Multiply 100% MAS x 1.2 to calculate m.s-1
Multiply m.s-1 x10 = distance
How do you calculate Yo-Yo IRS TEST - Maximal Aerobic grid?
Speed at estimates VO2 max \ 3.5 = 100% MAS distance
Multiply by 15 for horizontal sides
Multiply by 0.7 then multiply by 15 for vertical.
How do you calculate the supra-maximal eurofit method?
1.2km shuttle run - no conversion required 1200m/320secs TIME 1.2x3.75 4.5x15s =67.5m
