Q
Replication steps
A
- The enzyme DNA helicase unwinds the double helix and breaks the hydrogen bonds
- Each original strands then acts a template to build a new strand
Free dna nucleotides are attracted to the exposed base on the template strands and they attach to the correct base through complementary base pairing - The free nucleotides are joined to the new strand by condensation catalysed by the enzyme DNA polymerase which forms hydrogen bond between the bases
- Each new DNA molecule contains one strand from the original DNA and one new strand
