Energy Pyramid
A pyramid that shows the amount of available energy in an ecosystem.
Food Web
A graph of what living things in an ecosystem eat.
Food Chain
A type of model that shows relationships between animals’ eating patterns.
Producer
The part of a food chain that is made up of plants that makes its own food and doesn’t rely on other organisms.
Consumer
An organism that cannot create its own food and eats other living things for energy.
Biome
Huge communities in nature that are like homes for plants and animals.
Ecology
The part of biology that puts living organisms together.
Nitrogen Cycle
A process where Nitrogen comes from the atmosphere to soil and returns back to the atmosphere after it becomes part of living organisms.
Water Cycle
A continuous movement of water between many things like air, oceans, and land.
Carbon Cycle
A natural cycle where Carbon (Charcoal) is incorporated in living tissues.
Biotic Factor
Living things in an ecosystem.
Abiotic Factors
Nonliving things of an ecosystem
Predator
A living animal that hunts for other animals to survive.
Prey
The animals that are hunted by predators, some prey can also be predators.
Succession
The growth of communities in one area of nature until a climax community is established.
