Nucleus
central part of an atom, made up of protons and neutrons; roundish structure inside a cell that acts as the control centre for the cell. Plural = nuclei.
Protons
positively charged particles found in the nucleus of an atom
Neutrons
particles with no electrical charge that are found in the nucleus of an atom
Electrons
negatively charged, very light particles in an atom. Electrons move around the nucleus of the atom.
Products
chemical substances that result from a chemical reaction
Reactants
the original substances present in a chemical reaction
Law of conservation of mass
law that states that, in a chemical reaction, the total mass of the reactants is the same as the total mass of the products
Law of constant proportions
law that states that, in chemical compounds, the ratio of the elements is always the same
