what is a questionnaire?
-written methods of giving data
what is an interview?
-verbal questioning of a subject by a researcher
what are the 3 types of interviews?
-structured
-semi structured
-unstructured
what is a structured interview?
-the interviewer would ask the same standardised questions to participants in the same order
what is a semi structured interview?
-the interviewer would have a set of pre-planned questions, with the ability to ask follow up questions and to be flexible.
what is an unstructured interview?
-the researcher has no structure, where the researcher has topics to be discussed with no pre planned questions
what are open questions?
-open questions ask a participants a question with a blank line underneath
-often asking their emotions of thoughts
what are closed questions?
-researcher gives the person an answer to chose from
-participant must answer the most appropriate answer
what is a rating scale?
-the participant would make an appropriate mark along which number reflects their emotions and feelings on a subject or question
what is a likert scale?
-a statement which participants rate from agree to disagree through numerical intervals
what is semantic differentials
-polar opposite terms in which participants have to rate their feelings on a specific topic.
-for example good- bad, cold-hot
