Why is self-care important for you?

Can help to prevent:
- Compassion fatigue, stress and burn-out which may lead to mood swings, loss of appetite, insomnia, depression, etc
- Personal problems from disrupting your judgement and hence affecting the people that you are trying to help.

Name the techniques of self-care.
A
- Taking time out when needed to recharge
- overseas vacation, getaways, creative hobbies, recreational activities, meeting friends - Being realistic and recognising own work boundaries
- be fully aware of own capability and work boundaries to prevent taking up too much responsibilities.
- be realistic on what you can achieve - Looking out for burnt out symptoms
- exhaustion
- unhealthy habits
- demotivated
- negative emotions
- inability to focus
- decreased satisfaction with work and life - Being kind to oneself
- don’t bring clients’ work home
- learn to separate work problems from your personal life
