2) Select a male and female with the desired characterisitcs and breed them together
3) Out of their offspring breed together the male and female offspring who inherited the inherited characterisitcs
4) Repeat this process until all of the offspring have the desired characterisitc
What are the disadvantages of selective breeding?
It reduces variation in a species which leads to inbreeding whereby offspring become more prone to diseases or inherited disorders
What are dogs selectively breeded for?
A gentler nature
What are food crops selectively breeded for?
A resistance to disease
What are cows selectively breeded for?
More meat or milk
What are plants selectively breeded for ?
Larger or brightly coloured flowers
