Q

Describe the process of genetic engineering

A
  1. Select the gene that we want to transfert
  2. Cut out and isolate using enzymes
  3. Insert the gene into a small loop of p;asmid DNA from a bacteria to form a recombinant plasmid
  4. Transfer the desired gene to the target organism at an early stage of development so that it develops WITH the desired characteristics

Q

What are the agricultural disadvantages of genetic modification?

A

There is a concern that transplanted genes could get into other surrounding species

People feel that we need to do more research on the health effects of eating GM crops
