The JAC advertise for the place

Applications - the JAC checks they have the correct qualifications
- Short listing
The JAC will exclude candidates hat don’t have he correct criteria

References - 2 groups of referees are chosen, 1 by the JAC 1 by the candidate
- Selection day
Consists of a panel interview, role play, presentation, situational questioning
- Panel decision
Collect info from each other and create a report on each person, then presented to the commission.
- Statutory commission
CRA 2005 requires the commission to consult Lord Chief Justice and another person.
- Commission selection
Recommend to LCJ

Report to LC about each candidate he can either reject once or reconsider once

Appointment made by the queen

Vacancy request - the JAC receive a vacancy request - most applicants need 5-7 years legal experience
