Rotation • Posterior is Dx • Tx is opposite Flexion/extension • Better is Dx • Tx is opposite Sidebending • Thumb on side of ease is Dx • Tx is opposite
Lumbar ME Type 2
- Lateral recumbent with Posterior TP UP
- Note: Tx is opposite of Dx
- Rotation by shouders towards DO
* Reach for floor - Extension is added at hips (flexion dx)
- Flexion is added at shoulders (extension dx)
- Sidebend at treat with ankles
* Towards floor for feather edge
* They try to bring to roof
Lumbar ME Type 1
- Lateral recumbent with posterior TP DOWN
- Use legs to localize flexion to apex segment
- Rotation by shouders away from DO
* Localize to apex segment
* Hold pt down and perform ME twice - Lower ankles to localize to apex segment
* Hold down pressure for ME
* Repeat 2-4 times
Lumbar HVLA
o Lateral recumbent with posterior TP DOWN
o Localize from below to dysfuntion
• For F Dx extend slightly
• For E DX flex
o Straighten lower leg, tuck upper foot into popliteal fossa (stabilize)
• If large pt then upper leg off of table
o Shoulders can come forward for E Dx
o Pt grasps your elbow with lower hand and rotate to dysfunction
o Use same arm for sidebending
• Cephalad for 2
• Caudad for 1
o Pt can now clasp hands together to stabilize
o Cephlad hand under pt arm, caudad btwn iliac crest and greater troc
o Roll entire pt towards you to take out tissue slack
o Thrust at pelvis
• Type 2: anterior and cephlad
• Tyoe 1: anterior and caudad
o RETEST
