Seebeck (Thermoelectric Effect) Flashcards
What is the Seebeck Effect?**
It is when Voltage is generated by Heat **
When Voltage is generated by Heat where do the electrons move?**
Electrons move from High Temperature (T) → Low Temperature (T)**
What does Steady-State Involve in the Seebeck Effect?
Steady-State → Voltage across Temperature Gradient
What is the Formula for the Seebeck Effect?
ΔV = -S*ΔT, where S = Seebeck coefficient (different for every material)
What is the Formula for the Seebeck Effect with materials that have 2 different Seebeck Coeffients?
ΔV = (Sb - Sa)*ΔT
What is the Formula to calculate Temperature Change via ΔV?
Vc = Vs * e^(-t/RC)
Where:
Vc - Voltage travelling through capacitor (V)
Vs - battery Voltage
What is Thermocouple?
It is when Each material producing its own voltage and Have Different Seebeck Coeffects
