What is the difference between ‘use value’ and ‘exchange value’ regarding value creation?
Use value: quality of a new job, task
Exchange value: money amount realized at a certain point
What are the different levels of analysis of value creation?
1) Individual
2) Organizational
3) Societal
How can an individual create value?
By developing novel and appropriate tasks, services, and jobs
How can an organization create value?
By develop/invent new ways of doing things (new technologies)
How can a society create value?
By programs and incentives for entrepreneurship and innovation.
How does an individual capture value?
If others can’t easily imitate the process (tacit knowledge)
How does an organization capture value?
By using resources with attributes that make them difficult to imitate (intangible resources)
How does a society capture value?
Nations can capture value through isolating mechanisms
How does the social value proposition look like for social enterprises?
1) Value generation
2) Value capture for the organization
3) Value sharing for society
What does value sharing mean?
Exchanging benefits with different groups involved, like customers, partners, employees, and the community (stakeholders)
