What is social capital?
The resources that are available to people through their social connections
What are the four main components of social capital?
1) Networks (groups of people)
2) Values, norms and sanctions (shared standards of behavior)
3) Reciprocity (people will help each other because they know it will benefit the group)
4) Trust (expectation that others will be honest)

What is bonding social capital?
Refers to close relationships between individuals that share the same characteristics
What is bridging social capital?
Refers to relationships between individuals who come from different backgrounds
What is linking social capital?
Relationships between individuals and governments/organizations
