What are the oxygen stats essential in sedation?
What to do if alarm / dropping
A
Normal o2 sat = 97
Alarm at 90
Hypoxia at 85
If dropping - stimulate patient snd try to get them to breathe more
If alarm - supplemental oxygen with nasal cannulation
- flumazenil reversal - 500mg

Contraindications for IS
A
- common cold
- tonsillitis
- nasal blockage
- severe COPD
- MS
- pregnancy - first trimester
- claustrophobia / fear of nasal mask

Contraindications for IV sedation?
A
- severe COPD
Hepatic insufficiency
Pregnancy and lactation
Hypothyroidism

Q
IV sedation, o2 sats dropping and alarm goes off - what to do?
A
Alarm @ 90%
Hypoxia @ 85%
If dropping - ask pt to breathe and try to get them to breathe
If alarm
- supplemental oxygen of 2L/min
- reversal with flumazenil 500ug
