- Software that is used to detect and remove viruses that may be infecting the files on your computer.

- tries to monitor and track the way you use your computer
- least dangerous forms of spyware show up as ‘cookies’ that track which websites you visit
- most dangerous forms of spyware are called ‘keyloggers’. These capture the letters you type in an attempt to find out what your user names and passwords are.
