Who can set fpcon levels?
Commanders at any level.
Subordinate commanders can set local levels if situation warrants
How are force protection conditions selected?
- Terrorist level threat
- Capability to penetrate
- Risk of terrorist attack to assets are exposed
- assets ability to execute if attacked
- assets criticality to their mission
What is fpcon normal?
When global threat of possible terrorist activity exists and warrants routine security posture
What is fpcon A?
Increase general threat of possible terrorist activity. A measures must be capable of being maintained indefinitely.
What is fpcon bravo?
When an increase or more predictable threat of terrorist activity exists
What is fpcon C?
Applies when incident occurs or intel is received indicating terrorist action
What is fpcon D?
Applies is immediate area where a terrorist activity has occurred or when Intel is received that terrorist action is against a specific location or person.
What is Defcon?
Defense readiness condition. An alert posture used by U.S. armed forces.
Who developed the defcon?
Joint chiefs of staff
What is defcon 5?
Normal peacetime readiness
What is defcon 4?
Normal, increased intel and strengthened security
What is defcon 3?
Increase in force readiness
What is defcon 2?
Further increase in readiness but less than max
What is defcon 1?
Max force readiness
