Separation of religion and state
Protection of individual freedom: our constitution decided that the freedom of religion the state should not interfere in the religious practices. People should be free to propagate or exit their religions or embrace another religion if they feel the need to do so.
Protecting the democratic fabric of nation : democratic nation works on the principle of equality and keeping this in mind, All religions should be treated equally no single religion should be given importance or enforced upon people nor shall a religious majority be allowed to dominate the religious minorities. When a nation fails to do this, The democratic fabric is destroyed and it faces of volatile situation like Sri Lanka face in the past
Right the religion reflects the secular nature of the Indian constitution comment
Through the fundamental rights, such as right to freedom of religion all individuals have the right to practice any religion.
People are free to propagate follow or exit their religions or to embrace another religion if they feel the need to do so .
Since India has adopted the ideas of secularism in its constitution it treats all religions equally.
There is no state religion ; neither does the state any particular religion.
People are free to practice and profess any religion.
Every religion is free to maintain institutions for religious and charitable purposes , to manage its own religious affairs, and to acquire, movable and immovable property.
No state funded institution is allowed to impact any religious education .
Discrimination on the basis of religion is neither followed nor allowed by the state .
