Where can trains be stabled at Bondi Junction?
Up Storage, Down storage, Terminal road
When departing the storage roads at Bondi Junction what platform/s can you arrive on?
Up Storage - Platform 1
Down Storage - Platform 2
Terminal Road - Both
When are the park brakes released at Bondi Junction during the prep?
After the continuity test has been completed and you are ready to depart.
What authority is needed to stable a train in the terminal road at Bondi Junction and why?
Operation control, because there are no catch points to protect against runaways.
What signage is at Woollahra cutting?
No whistle
Can an 8 car interurban V set terminate at Martin Place and explain why?
No, too long for the siding
Is setting back permitted on the ESR in the case of an overshoot?
Yes. With signallers authority and assistance of the station staff
What indication is given on the signal to enter the terminal roads at Central ESR, Martin Place and Bondi empty? And when occupied?
The line is occupied - Calling on and the train stop is up
The line is unoccupied - Low speed with a T in the route indicator.
When departing the terminal road at Central what platform/s can you arrive on?
Platform 24
How are trains worked through the ESR when not tabled to stop at stations and why?
Approach platforms at 10 kph, through platforms at 15kph, at departure end sound whistle then proceed at normal speed. To allow warning lights to activate and workers to clear the track
How do you run in the ‘wrong running direction’ on the ESR?
Change ends and marker lights. Obtain signallers authority to travel to the next platform. Blow whistle 3 times before departing. Headlights and fog lights turned on. Max speed will be 10KMH in tunnels and 25KMH outside of tunnels, 10 kph over the expansion joints
All expansion joints MUST be inspected by an engineer before each train is to pass that point. On arrival at next platform the driver contacts the signaller.
What control does the signaller have over the semi-automatic signals at the departure end of the underground platforms?
Emergency button puts the signals back to stop and removes the “A” light to make them absolute
What is the minimum traction requirement for the ESR?
8 Cars - 6 pairs of motors or 1 car isolated
8 cars - Tanagra 5 pairs of motors or 1 ½ cars isolated
6 Cars - 5 pairs of motors or ½ car isolated
4 Cars - 3 pairs of motors or ½ car isolated
