Sections Of The Brain Flashcards
Cerebrum frontal lobe
Frontal lobe rests at the anterior portion of the brain.
It is associated with higher level thinking, motor skills, reasoning, and expressive language.
Damage to this region can cause a change in personality or socialization and risk taking.
Phineas Gage
Cerebrum Parietal lobe
The Parietal Lobe sits at the top of the head in the middle section of the brain.
It processes sensory information including touch, pressure, and pain.
Also known for mathematical reasoning.
Cerebrum temporal
The temporal lobe is largely involved in auditory processing, interpreting language (semantics) and sounds.
It is located at the bottom of the brain and includes the hippocampus
Damage to this lobe can impact memory, speech perception, and language skills.
Cerebrum occipital
The occipital lobe rests at the posterior of the brain
It is responsible for interpreting visual stimuli from your eyes
Also has a role in controlling eye movement through the oculomotor nerve - but this nerve also innervates along parts of the brain stem
