South plantation had slaves operate.

This definition refers to the wealthy cotton plantation owners who became government officials.
What was the purpose of slave codes?
Slave codes regulate the relationship between the slave and the owner.
Why did sectional differences develop between the North and the South?
North: Better for mills/factories/ and trade.
South: Better suited for agriculture.
What was the Underground Railroad? Who was a famous conductor who risked her life helping slaves?
This was a secret network that had pathways to help the slaves escape until they reached a Northern State so abolitionists could assist and help them. Harriet Tubman risked her life to help save these slaves.
How did Henry Brown escape slavery?
With the help of others, he shipped himself in a large box to abolitionists in the North.
What does the term Abolitionist mean? What do they want?
An abolitionist is someone who doesn’t like slavery and wants it to end.
