What is the purpose of a risk assessment
- create awareness of hazards and risks
- to identify who may be at risk
- to determine what is already in place
- to prevent injury
What is a risk
The likelihood of the hazard harming someone
What is a hazard
something that can cause harm.
eg; heights, chemicals, electricity ect
Define production
the number of units made
Define productivity
the efficiency of the company
eg: output per person
What is Kaizen
Is Japanese it means ‘change for better’
The philosophy is continuous improvement throughout the company
explain ‘Just in time’ (JIT)
Aim to reduce flow time with production aswell as response time from suppliers and to customers
get everything there ‘just in time’
What is group technology
Grouping similar products, parts and assemblies together to simplify design, manufacturing and purchasing
What can group technology do?
- enables cellular manufacturing
- reduce cost
- accelerate product development
- reduce tooling cost
What are control limits
The feasible area at which the process can run at.
highest= quickest rate the process can run
low= slowest acceptable
What are specification limits
customer specifications that must fit within the suppliers limits.
the customer can chose the spec, just have to be within the suppliers or manufactures limit.
What is batch production
where group of items are made.
each batch is finished before the next starts
