Maintenance Flashcards
What is the objective of maintenance?
- to unsure equipment is up to standard
- extend life span of equipment
- keep equipment safe
- keep running cost down
- Produce most amount of parts
What is Preventive Maintenance
Constantly checking machines to prevent failure
2 types = Periodic maintenance & Predictive Maintenance
What is periodic Maintenance
Checking a machine on a period basic
eg MOT
What is Predictive maintenance
Predicting when the part may fail using service history and states life span.
What is corrective maintenance
Improving the equipment so preventive maintenance doesn’t have to occur.
eg: Redesigning a part that constantly fails and has to be replaced
What is Breakdown maintenance
Maintenance that is performed of equipment that has broken down
What does TPM stand for
Total Productive maintenance
What are the principles of TPM
Autonomous Maintenance. Focused Improvement. Planned Maintenance. Quality management. Early/equipment management. Education and Training. Safety Health Environment. Administrative & office TPM.
What is focused improvement
Getting groups of employees to discuss improvements for machinery
Kaizen
What is Planned Maintenance
Observing breakdowns and fails and planning future maintenance before it happens
What is Quality management
detecting errors during production.
Stops defects going further down the line
What is Early/ equipment management
Using previous equipment maintenance history to allow new equipment to get to perfect working order quicker.
What is Education and Training
Good training = good TPM
bad training = failures of machines
What is Safety health environment
Training employees in health and safety to abide to regulations
What is Administrative & office TPM.
Bringing TPM to office works to whole organisations are speaking TPM
