Why are proteins needed in a dancers diet
Builds and repairs muscles, dancers use muscles for dancing and in case of injury healing is easy
Why are carbohydrates needed in a dancers diet
Glucose= main energy source for high energy activities like dance
Why are fats and oils / dairy needed in a dancers diet
Fats: provides energy and insulates organs
Dairy: strong bones and muscle contraction
Why are fruit and veg needed in a dancers diet
Nutrients so ur body is at optimal level
Why is hydration important for dancers
-we must replace the fluids lost in sweat to prevent lactic acid build up to prevent cramping
-improved performance and less dizziness
Suitable dance clothing?
Hair tied up : eliminate distractions especially during lifts
Leggings / tight clothing : easy to see body shapes
no baggy clothing : no obstructions
Bare feet : no slipping
Three stages of a warm up?
-cardiovascular exercise
- joint mobilisation
-stretching
Why is a warm up necessary in dance?
-increased heart rate: delivers blood and oxygen around body and muscles preparing them for use
-lengthens and stretches muscles and joints masking them more mobile
Describe one exercise you could do in a warm up

Why is a cool down important in dance
-decreases heart rate for the rest of the day
- releases lactic acids via stretching (static or dynamic) which reduces aches or DOMs
