An interactive system that provides the user with easy access to decision models and data to support semi-structured decision-making tasks

A computer system set up by humans that provides recommendations to solve a problem
Executive Support Information System
Systems designed specifically to support executive work
Analytical Processing System
Software technology that enables the user to query the system, retrieve data and conduct analysis.
Online Transaction Processing (OLTP)
Database is updated as soon as a transition is received (immediately)
Batch Processing
Gathering information and then entering transactions in a group to the computer periodically
