What went on during the battles of Lexington and Concord?
April 19, 1775 – Was the first major military engagement of the American Revolutionary War. The battle was a failed attempt by the British to seize the arms of soldiers loyal to the Massachusetts Provincial Congress. Resulted in a Colonial victory and the outbreak of war in the rest of the colonies.
Who were the redcoats?
British regular soldier during the Revolutionary War. Known for their distinctive bright red coats.
Who were the minutemen?
Members of the Massachusetts militia, (and later all colonial militias). It was said that they could be ready and armed in less than a minute.
Who were the tories?
Another name for loyalist, or those loyal to the British crown.
