De Lempicka was influenced by cosmopolitan culture in her “self portrait in a green bugatti.”

This is shown by her nods to the Futurism movement and the advancement of technology going on at the time. She shows this via the vehicle she is driving in the portrait, a bugatti which is a sleek and luxurious car.
