Q

Positional And Experiental Sanctification

A

the position every believer enjoys by virtue of being set apart as a member of God’s family through faith in Christ. This is true for all believers regardless of different degrees of spiritual growth. 1 Cor. 1:2;

The second aspect of sanctification concerns the present experiential or progressive work of continuing to be set apart during the whole of our Christian lives. Every command and exhortation to holy living concerns progressive sanctification (1 Pet. 1:16).

Q

Demon Possession and Demon Oppression

A

Demon possession is the controlling of an individual by residing in him. Possessed persons are not capable of severing themselves from the control of the demon.
Demonic oppression is the work of evil spiritual forces that urge us to sin, to deny God’s word, to feel spiritually dead, and to be in bondage to sinful things. This oppressive work is performed by evil spiritual forces who resist God, and who sinned in their first estate (Jude 6). They war against God, against God’s people, and against unbelievers as well. Their goal is to bring as many people as possible into rebellion against God and condemnation in hell.

Roles of Men and Women in the Church

A

1 Timothy 2:8-15
- Men should pray (and not be quarrelsome or be angry)
- Women should not be focused on outward beauty but inward (apparel, and be dressed in goodworks)
- Women should be submissive to men
- Women cannot exercise authority over a man. Why?
o Adam was formed first
o Adam was not deceived (Eve was)

Men can be deacons and Elders in the church.

Q

Law & Grace

A
  • Law is God’s moral code or righteous standard given by God to Moses on mount Sinai that. The Law had some purposes:
o To define what sin is (stealing, killing, etc).
o To teach us that we need a savior.
o We could never obey the law.
  • Grace is unmerited favor from God, in that Christ took the punishment for our sins and we have received a gift. Christ obeyed the law and died for us that we don’t have to (and we couldn’t anyway).
  • Therefore by having faith in Jesus we died to the law’s requirements because we have been placed in Christ upon having faith.

Q

Faith & Works

A

Faith is the channel by which we our saved. Faith in Jesus Christ (who paid the price for our sins) is the object by which we are saved.
When we are justified, we do good works (Eph 2:10). Good works are the evidence of our salvation (James 2:24).

Millenial Kingdom and the Eternal State

A

Millennial Kingdom: 1,000 year rule of Messiah on earth.Satan Bound for 1,000 years into the pit. Martyrs and those who were in the tribulation (who did not accept the mark of the beast) there (resurrection). The rest of the dead would not come to life until after the resurrection. Those in the first resurrection will reign with Christ. After the 1,000 years Satan will be released for the battle of Armageddon. Afterward there is the second resurrection, then judgement. There will be perfect and complete justice, sin will be quickly punished.

Eternal State: The old heavens and earth will be done away with and the new Jerusalem will come down and man will dwell with God. No more pain, tears.

Q

The Kingdom Already & Not Yet

A
Kingdom Now (Spiritual): This is the kingdom into which all believers have been placed (Col 1:13) (entered by the new birth). Jesus is the rulers, and He rules believers only.
Kingdom Not Yet: The kingdom to come is the Millenium Kingdom of the Davidic covenant (2 Sam 7). Christ will rule in this kingdom and those from the tribulation will be there. (not the church as the church would be raptured.) (pg.460)

Q

Divine Sovereignty and Human Responsibility

A

Divine Sovereignty and Human Responsibility are not mutuall exclusive. Although God controls and has decrees everything that goes on in the world, the persons are still responsible for the evil that they do. God is fair and just for this , and scripture never explains how both are reconcilable. (Acts 2)
