Where the outputs from the system form part of the input to the system
Hardware
Components of the computer that you can physically touch
Software
Anything that you can’t touch which is programmed to control the hardware
System software (operating system)
Controls the workings of the computer
Interface between the user, hardware, and software
Applications software
Programs found on the computer
e.g. word processing software
Standardisation
A set of standards or rules that both software and hardware must comply with
Dot matrix printer
Old printer that can print a carbon copy
Laser printer
Uses toner to print the data, with decent quality, fastest
Ink jet printer
Sprays ink onto the paper which is very cheap to run, with the best quality, but takes longer
Plotter
Prints on very large documents usually A1 or A2
