Ecology
The scientific study of interactions among organisms and between organisms and their environment or surroundings
What does the biosphere contain
The combined portions of the planet in which all of life exists, including land, water, and air or atmosphere
Why do ecologists ask questions about events and organisms that range in complexity from an individual to the biosphere?
To understand relationships within the biosphere
Species
A group of organisms so similar to one another that they prefer and produce fertile offspring
Population
Species that interact together
Populations of different species interact
Community
Ecosystem
Group of organisms in a specific area and non living parts of their environment
Biome
A group of ecosystems that have the same climate and dominant communities
