Q

How did the French and Indian War draw the colonies closer together but increase friction with Britain?

A

The French and Indian War drew the colonies closer and increased friction with Britain because the colonists were proud of their victory in the war and expected Britain to be grateful at their assistance. The British viewed it differently, they saw the war as costly. It had left them deeply in debt. They believed the colonist should pay part of the debt. They put new taxes on various products. The Sugar Act and the Stamp Act are examples of this.
