section 2 Flashcards
what’s a habitat?
a place where living things live, providing food water and shelter suitable for it
what is biotic and abiotic factors
biotic factors are the living components of the ecosystem
abiotic factors are the non living components of the ecosystem
for abiotic factors, what are they divided into?+give examples
physical characteristics:amount of sunlight,humidity,temperature,precipitation
chemical characteristics:availability of nitrogen,pH,salinity,oxygen concentration
how are biotic and abiotic factors?
abiotic and biotic factors are not independent, they interact continuously
howw are abiotic factors? and give example
abiotic factors are not constant, they change over time and vary by location, and affect/impact organisms. For example temperature changes, hourly daily seasonally and yearly. it’s also differs between places. small temperature differences within a habitat like between shaded areas and direct sunlight can also impact organisms
How does temperature change in an ecosystem
Hourly daily seasonally and yearly
