16
Q

Who must be informed when the HTA is active?

A

Departing/Arriving aircraft and vehicles on the manoeuvring area which are likely to be affected.

17
Q

When should helicopters in the HTA be advised of aircraft or vehicles?

A

When aircraft or vehicles are operating on taxiway Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Lima and Golf

18
Q

What is the separation provided between a wake turbulence departure and a helicopter if the projected flight paths may cross?

A

3 minutes

19
Q

If wake turbulence is present, where should helicopters taxiing from the FC to the Runway/HTA be taxied to?

A

To holding Point X and must be instructed to land and hold on the ground upon reaching the holding point.

20
Q

If wake turbulence is present, where should helicopters taxiing from the main apron to the Runway/HTA be taxied to?

A

To holding Point M1 and must be instructed to land and hold on the ground upon reaching the holding point.

21
Q

If a helicopter is holding and wake turbulence becomes an issue, what should the helicopter be instructed to do?

A

The helicopter must be instructed to land and hold on the ground.

22
Q

If a helicopter is transiting Avon’s Control Zone, does the wake it creates need to be considered?

A

Yes. A warning of possibly encountering wake turbulence shall be issued to relevant aircraft on final approach.

23
Q

If weather permits, can an aircraft on a missed approach conduct a visual circuit?

A

Yes, aircraft executing a missed approach may join the visual circuit. Avon Radar must be informed.

24
Q

Can aircraft carry out PFLs at Avon?

A

Yes. Local/Club aircraft may be given approval to conduct PFLs from 2000ft AAL. Avon Radar should be informed.

25
Q

Can aircraft carry out PFLs from above 2000ft AAL?

A

If the aircraft requests a PFL from above 2000ft AAL, it must be co-ordinated with and approved by Avon Radar.

26
Q

What must ATCOs remember when a Twin/Multi aircraft is conducting an asymmetric circuit?

A

Some aircraft may not be able to commence a missed approach when close to the airfield on final approach. Controllers should aim to give landing clearance to the asymmetric aircraft when it reports downwind.

27
Q

What is the minimum height restriction for aircraft conducting a low approach when the runway is occupied by aircraft/vehicles?

A

QFE - 400ft
QNH - 500ft
