Section 1 Flashcards
What biodiversity is
Many different kinds of living animals living in a ecosystem
What makes up a ecosystem
Living things makes up a ecosystem.
Identify the difference the difference between abiotic and biotic factors
Abiotic means non-living
Biotic means living
What’s the difference between population and community
Population is one species living in a particular ecosystem
Community is all the living things in thy particular ecosystem
What variation is, why it is important
Variation is when an organism has many different looks but the same species. This is important so when there is a environmental change they all won’t die
Most/least biodiverse places in the world
The most diverse is near the equator and the further you go away from the equator the less biodiversity.
Most tropical rainforests
Least Antarctica ice
7 Linnaean classifications
Kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species
Symbiosis, identify examples of its 3 forms
Mutualism both benefit ex flower and bee
Commensalism one benefits the other not cares ex tree licken
Parasitism one benefits other is harmed ex human lichee
Niche
Organisms role in environment
What resource partitioning is, why we see it in nature
Resource partitioning avoids competition within species. Neither benefit.
How to avoid is that animals have a niche
What natural selection is
When an organism changes to the environment to survive. Takes over a long period of time
EX pepper mouth and white mouth
