3) respect the rights and property of others

The legal process by which aliens may become us citizens
Naturalization
Requirements of a U.S. citizen
1) must be 18
2) resident for 5 years (3 if married)
3) read, write, and speak English
4) free of diseases/crime/drugs
5) prove you can support yourself
6) can’t be for revolution/overthrow a government
Step to become a U.S. citizen:
1) file “declaration of intention”
2) file a “petition for naturalization”
3) interview with INS (immigration and naturalization service)
4) final ceremony +take oath of allegiance
