Alliteration

Allegory

Allusion
An indirect reference to a literary or historical person, place or thing.
Analogy
A point-by-point comparison between two things that are alike in some respect.
Aside
A remark spoken by an undertone from another character/narrator.
Assonance
The repetition of a vowel sound with non-rhyming words.
Blank verse
An unrhymed poem written in iambic pentameter.
Characterization
Techniques writers use to develop characters.
Connotation
The emotional response evoked by a word, in contrast to it’s denotation.
Consonance
The repetition of consonant sounds within the end of the words.
Dénouement
A final resolution of clarification of the plot.
Dialect
Particular variety of a spoken language.
