Pityriasiform/ furfuraceous scales
A
- Fine, bran-like scales
- Scales can appear absent on first glance, but become more evident upon scratching the skin

Definition of Scale
A
- Abnormality of the upmost layers of skin (stratum corneum) leading to the formation of heaped up particles of the epidermis on the surface
- Note colour & nature
- Absence of scaling implies no pathology in the epidermis (dermis and subcutaneous tissue only)
