Should be 2mm short of the full depth of the sulcus

Describe green Stick

A

Flowable when warm but hardens quickly at mouth temperature

Talk through how we would record the post dam using green stick

A
  1. Dry the tray
  2. Warm green stick careful and slowly
  3. Apply green stick along the back of the tray on fitting surface
  4. Try not to extend to distally
  5. TEMPER IN WATER TO DISSIPATE HOT SPOTS
  6. Place in mouth
  7. Apply firm pressure to back of tray making sure tray is centrally positioned

How do we record the functional sulcus depth

A
  1. Dry the tray and heat green stick
  2. Apply 2-3 cm sections trying to keep to the outside of the tray
  3. Correct positioning with wet hands
  4. TEMPER IN WATER TO DISSIPATE HOT SPOTS
  5. Once seated in mouth carry out border moulding
  6. Remove any material that has gone onto fitting surface with a hot wax knife
