Handy hints

A
Get interest with fun intro. know the
movements in reverse if you are facing
the group. Have stopping signal
2.Use poly spots or lines on the floor for
student placement
3.Use verbal cues-may use counts but
word cues are good, not alway rt. or lt.
but instead go this way then that way.
4.Explain and Demo. w/out music first
and then add music, break the dance
down into small sections, start easier and
then add challenges
5.music with a strong slower beat- get
faster as you progress and mirrors are
not advised
6.Prevent negative behavior and
questions and change partners
throughout the lesson Have students sit while
demonstrating without
their equipment in hand
•	Progress from individual
to partner to group
activity
•	Have dance and cues
memorized before you
teach.
•	Prepare for less or more
if needed to fill time.
•	Practice with music
system before you teach.
•	Always close with key
concepts that the
students have learned.
