Define Psychological Abuse/ Emotional Abuse.
Intentionally causing mental suffering through verbal assaults, threats, humiliation, intimidation, harassment or isolation (insulting)
Define Financial Abuse/ Exploitation.
The theft or misuse of a senior’s money or possessions by friends, family, contractors or service providers entrusted with the senior’s money (forging a signature on a pension cheque)
Define Sexual Abuse.
Unwanted sexual activity. Sexual intercourse or a lack of personal privacy.
Define Neglect.
The failure of a caregiver to meet the health and safety needs of the older person who is unable to meet those needs alone (denial of water, food or medication).
