SECOND SEMESTER DISSECTION Flashcards
Oesophagus
- Posterior to trachea and heart
Trachea
- has cartilage rings that can be easily felt
Right/Left main bronchi
- Division of trachea
Ascending Aorta
- Part before bachiocephalic trunk
Aortic Arch
- Part of the aorta a soon as the bachiocephalic trunk emerges from it
Right/Left common carotid arteries
Thoracic Aorta
- A.K.A Descending aorta. Part after the arch of the aorta until Diaphragm
Brachiocephalic trunk
- First branch of the aorta
Right/Left subclavian artery
- Right subclavian first branch of the brachiocephalic on the right. Left subclavian is the third Branch of the aortic arch.
Superior Vena Cava
- Main superior vein that drains into Right atrium. Drains deoxygenated blood of upper body and brain.
Brachiocephalic vein
- Right and Left brachiocephalic vein which drains into Superior Vena Cava. Left Brachiocephalic vein anterior to great arteries and arch of the Aorta.
Internal jugular vein
- Right and Left Internal jugular vein. Internal jugular veins joins the subclavian veins to drain into the brachiocephalic veins.
Venous angle
Caval opening of diaphragm
- Opening which the nferior Vena Cava pierces the diaphragm.
Azygos vein
- On the right side of posterior mediastinum along the right border of the inferior eight thoracic vertebrae
Pulmonary artery
RALS
* RIGHT ANTERIOR
* LEFT SUPERIOR
position of the pulmonary artery relative to mainstem bronchus
Pulmonary vein
- Pulmonary veins are always inferior to main bronchus and pulmonary artery
Vagus n.
- Left and Right vagus nerve
Sympathetic trunk
- Right sympathetic trunk is lateral to azygos vein
- Left sypathetic trunk is lateral to
- Both are located on the posterior mediastinum
