What is the responsibility that comes with being able to vote?
You have to go and actually vote, respect other’s opinions and choose wisely.

Be careful about what you say and respect other’s opinions.
What is the responsibility that comes with being able to protest against the government?
Attempt to do it peacefully - a petition, and do not break the law.
What is the responsibility that comes with being able to receive an education?
You have to go to school and try in school and not take it for granted.
In a democracy how often do you choose the government?
Every five years.
What is a representative democracy and give an example of a place that is one?
It is when representatives are chosen to speak on the citizens’ behalf and the UK is one.
If you do not approve of the decisions that the government is making what can you do?
Vote differently next time.
What is the electorate and who is allowed to vote in the UK?
The electorate is the people in a country that are allowed to vote. If you are over 18 and a British citizen you are allowed to vote.
What are free and fair elections?
It means that you can vote for whoever you want and you cannot be forced or intimidated to vote a specific way. All the votes are counted accurately and you cannot vote more than once.
What is a secret ballot?
In democratic countries you vote in private/
In a democracy what is it important for the losers to do?
Acknowledge they have lost. In some countries they refuse to accept it or they use corrupt methods to win.
What is a general election?
Choose one Member of Parliament for Westminster.
What is a Scottish Parliament election?
Choose several Members of the Scottish Parliament for Parliament in Edinburgh.
What is a Local Council election?
Choose local councillors to represent our ward.
What is a European Parliament election?
Choose a Member of the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasburg.
