Romans 14:11-13
as it is written
As it is written: as surely as I live says The Lord every knee will bow before me; every tongue will confess to God. So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God. Therefore let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in his brother’s way.
Romans 13:12-14
the night is almost over
The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of the darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with The Lord Jesus Christ and do not think about how to gratify the desires of your sinful nature.
Galatians 2:19-21
for through the law
For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing.
2 Timothy 3:1-5, 12
but mark this
But mark this: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.
1 John 2:15-17
do not love the world
Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the desires of sinful man, the lust of his eyes, and the boasting of what he has and does comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and it’s desires pass away but the man who does the will of God will live forever.
James 1:12-16
blessed be the man
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trail, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. When tempted no one should say,”God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin when it is full grown gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers.
