Second 3 Flashcards
What’s hue ?
Hue is specified as the dominant range of wavelengths in the visible spectrum that yields a perceived color.
It’s the shades family A B C D
when it is too hard to distinguish Hue ?
the lower the intensity of the hue
What’s synonyms for hue ?
color, cast, shade, tint, or tone
What’s value another name ?
brightness
What’s value ?
sum total amount of light that is returned from an illuminated object
Describe the hue as Munsell describe it :
described value as a white to black gray scale.
Bright objects have lower amounts of gray and
low value objects have larger amounts of gray and will appear darker.
What’s the 2 ways to increase crown brightness ?
- Using lighter porcelain —> Lowe chroma
- Increase reflective of a surface
When increase the reflective surface texture or using bright Color —> bright restoration
What does lowering value means ?
Diminished light returns from the object illuminated then more light is being absorbed , scattered else where it transmitted through
Absorption , scattered , transition —> give ?
Reflection—> give ?
Dark
Light
Which pert of tooth is the lowest value ?
neck of a tooth is a difficult place to assess hue due to this fact.
Some hues have a more extensive value range than others, retaining their identity as they become darker give an example ?
blue remains recognizable as blue, even with a significant amount of gray added.
Yellow and orange, on the other hand, lose their hue identities as they lower in value
What’s chroma ?
saturation, intensity, or strength of the hue.
What’s chroma ?
saturation, intensity, or strength of the hue.
Give an example about chroma :
Envision placing red food dye into a glass of water.
Each time you add more of the same color dye, the intensity, saturation, or chroma increases but it is the same red color (hue).
As more dye is added, the mixture also appears darker so the change in chroma has a corresponding change in value
Explain the relation between chroma and value :
As chroma is increased, the value is decreased.
Chroma and value are inversely related.
Chroma is represented by numbers in vita Shade Guide.
