Fifth 3 Flashcards

1
Q

What’s color temperature ?

A

Color temperature is the average wavelength of the ambient light.

Because color temperature is an average, it does not mean that all wavelengths are present nor are they in equal amounts.

Measured in Kevin unit and reflect the warmth and coolness of light source

Q

What’s The ideal color temperature for color rendering ?

A

is 55000 Kelvin. Light at this temperature can be described as having a medium temperature feel and is considered “white” light.

Q

What’s metamerism ?

A

It’s the characteristic of a restoration where your restoration will match in one light (at your office ) but then display a different color in other light condition

Q

If there is no red light in your light source and then you go to another light source that contain what’s will happen ?

A

It will appear different
The color we see depend on the nature of light source illuminating the object

Q

What’s the dentist and D.T most have to avoid metamerism ?

A

dentist and the laboratory technician should have balanced full spectrum lighting conditions.

Q

What’s the color of opaque objects ?

A

The color of an opaque object is the sum of the wavelengths that reflect off of it.

Q

How does light intensity affect shade matching ?

A

If the amount of light (measured in foot-candles or lumens per ft ) is too small, fine details are missed and
the eye has difficulty perceiving hue.

Usually the ceiling lighting in the dental operatory is not intense enough to see everything

Q

Why dental units are not the ideal choice for shade matching ?

A

Too great an intensity and glare decreases the accuracy of the color rendering.

Dental unit lights should not be used for color rendering. They are too bright and cause glare.

Glare will fatigue your eyes thus; rendering shades immediately after using a dental unit light is also contraindi- cated.
