  4. Move to an exit point if you can find one.
  5. If possible, move down the building and not to upper floors.
  6. Close doors behind you to minimise the spread of fire.

Q

What are (3) limitations of the TIC?

A
  1. Thermal inversion
  2. You CANT see through stainless steel, mirrors and glass (Infradred waves will reflect off them)
  3. Stairs are difficult to navigate (due to depth perception and lack of definition)
  4. FF may move too quickly and neglect fundamental navigation skills

  • (spark in green triangle) = laser pointer active
  • (thermometer in red trigle) = inside temp of TIC is too high
  • (4 green bars in battery) = battery full
  • (bottom right temp) = avg. temp at centre green square

Q

Define passive, active & direct emitters?

A

Passive
- doesn’t generate own heat, has absorbed heat from other sources

Active
- generates own heat at controlled, constant levels (humans, animals)
