What is a search?
is an examination of a person, property, or premises with the intent to uncover evidence of a crime or criminal intent.
what is a seizure?
is taking of items by authorities for evidence.
Who grants search authority?
A Commander or a person serving in a position designated by the SecDef and a Military Judge or magistrate prescribed by the SecDef.
What is On-Base Authority?
Squadron commanders may authorize a search of their areas.
What is the Search authorization form?
AF Form 1176, Authority to Search and Seize.
What is probable cause?
reasonable belief that the person, property, or evidence sought is located in the place or on the person to be searched.
