What is a plain seam and when is it used?
A
- A single line which joins two right sides together.
- It is used on thinner fabrics for garments such as flowy t-shirts and blouses.

What is a double-stitched seam and when is it used?
A
- Basically a double plain seam - two lines which join the right sides of fabric together, two lines being used to provide strength.
- It is used on garments such as; tighter t-shirts, pants and jackets.

What is a french seam and when is it used?
A
- The edges of the wrong sides are sewn together, then the wrong sides are tucked between the right sides and sewn again so that the raw edges are tucked away and smooth.
- These are used on garments that do not have linings such as a tote bag or shirt.

What is a felled seam and when is it used?
A
- A plain seam sew a right side to a wrong side, and then the edges are tucked into each other on a way that locks them in, and another plain seam is then stitched along the other side of the seam’s width.
- These are used on the sides of pants and jeans as they are the strongest seam type.
